FschJg Btl241 (KDO241) was a modern German Bundeswehr Mil-Sim airsoft team. We chose modern German Bundeswehr as our model for many reasons; our desire to be unique is the primary reason, but a close second is the uniform pattern. Both Flecktarn and Tropentarn blend with the Southern California environment like no other. We considered ourselves a mil-sim team as we practiced and applied squad based tactics while participating in events. We constantly practised communication, dedicated roles and marksmanship in efforts to make ourselves more battlefield effective.

We played primarily at SoCal Airsoft events located in Ventura and occasion we made the long drive up to NorCal for random games when the road trip demon bites.

History

KDO LogoOn a rainy day on the 10th of November 1999, the 15th Militia was created in the digital world of counter-strike to unite the lone wolves of the CS community. After 3 years of great success, those of us who desired more formed an unofficial paintball team in Southern California for basic woodland play. Based out of SC Village, many weekends were spent in the bush hunting down fellow paintballers, but we still desired more. Something more realistic and tactical. Paintball felt like TFC and did not have the edge of realism that drew us to CS in the first place. Then came airsoft.

After many hours of internet research and observing a few local games, we were hooked. Of the 4 of us who paintballed, 2 of us fully converted to airsoft without hesitation, promptly selling all of our paintball gear. Our first official appearance as an airsoft team was at Operation: Crimson Dunes in August 2002. Since then, we have participated in countless local events and most of the large weekend Ops that are in our area. We have even had members participate in international airsoft events as recent as November 2003 at CS Urban in the United Kingdom.

As the team grew and our skill increased, so did our interest in mil-sim airsoft reenactment. In April 2004, a unanimous vote was cast to transform the structure of the team into that of the modern German Fallschirmjager or Paratroopers. Along with the new structure came a new name. While we are very proud of our roots, the name ’15th Militia’ no longer represented who we are. While not wanting to use a real unit’s name out of respect, we did want to come as close the real thing as possible. After lengthy discussions and Q&A sessions, the name Fallschirmjägerbataillon 241 was chosen (KDO241 for short).

In 2008, airsoft began to take a back-seat for many of the original members as life events began unfold. College, Careers, Marriage, Kids… we always held that life came before airsoft, and life events/change eventually overcame our ability to function as team. Lion Claws VII was our last event attended as a team where the decision was made to disband. A few of us joined other teams, others moved out of state and other continue to casually play airsoft. We remain in touch and are more of a social club these days, coming together for parties, weddings, BBQs… pretty much anything involving a pint.
